When funding is available, the BCDS offers course and club development grants as highlighted below. Grants are generally announced in the early spring.

BCDS Innovation Fund Course Development Grant

 

 

 

 


BCDS Innovation Fund

The BCDS is pleased to announce a new grant program available to individual BCDS members or member clubs in 2014.  The Innovation fund is designed to support efforts to expand the reach of disc golf in BC.

Eligibility

All current BCDS members and member clubs are eligible to submit a grant request.

Funding level

Grants can be for any amount, however a total pool of $3500 is available. Grants will be awarded on a competitive basis.

Program priorities

The program is designed to let members be creative in their applications, and funds will be awarded based on the following priorities:

  • Generates new members
  • Generates shared revenue for the BCDS or Affiliated Clubs where appropriate
  • Expands the community of golfers (focused on increasing participation and BCDS membership among youth, women, older players, and other under-represented populations)
  • Sustainability

Applications must be received by the Vice President no later than April 25, 2014.


Course Development Fund

BCDS has allocated $6,000 to a provincial course development fund for 2013/14. Applications must be received by a BCDS Board Member no later than April 25. All BCDS Affiliated Clubs can apply for up to $500 in aid. All requested funds must have a cash-match from the club. Successful applicants will be expected to provide a report of the results of the grant to be presented at the AGM and archived on the Website. A letter of support from the municipality is required for all infrastructure improvements and course development, unless the course is on private land (in which case a letter of support from the owner is required).

To apply for these funds, please send a description of your course development project, as well as details regarding how the funds will be spent, to Paul Brownfield. Closing date is April 25, 2014.

Archived Grants

2012/2013 Grants

Club Development Fund

The BCDSS has allocated $5,000 to a provincial club development fund for 2012/13. Applications must be received by a BCDSS Board Member no later than March 15. Clubs with up to 49 members can apply for $500 in aid, clubs with memberships of 50 or more are eligible for up to $1,000. All requested funds must have a cash-match from the club. Successful applicants will be expected to provide a report of the results of the grant to be presented at the AGM and archived on the Website. A letter of support from the municipality is required for all infrastructure improvements and course development, unless the course is on private land (in which case a letter of support from the owner is required).

Closing date is March 15, 2013.

Grant funds can be used for:

  • Skills clinics and outreach
  • Course development, improvement, or installation
  • On going tournament and event capacity (excluding Duck Golf events)
  • Expansion of club infrastructure and capacity

Adjudication

Priority is given to grants judged likely to benefit the most players over the longest term. For example, development proposals for a public course would be viewed as reaching more members than development of a private course, unless the private course is open to the public.
